Why Kuhtai Is Great For Ski Photography

Just a short forty-minute drive from Innsbruck lies the picturesque Kühtai village. A collection of twenty-or-so buildings, it doesn't have the facilities of larger resorts but more than makes up for this with its beautiful mountain scenery.

Back in March of this year, our team went over to Kühtai for our winter outerwear photoshoot. They were able to take some amazing shots that you may have seen in our White Book or on our website.

Here's why we think Kühtai is one of the most photogenic mountain locations in the world...

Scenery

From the centre of the village, you only need to take one lift, and you have access to a variety of pristine terrain on and off-piste. Add in views down the valley and the surrounding mountains, and it makes framing shots with stunning backdrops child's play.

Traditional Buildings

The village's traditional hotels and sun-drenched verandas made for excellent lifestyle shots. We were able to deck out these ideal settings with local cuisine and drinks, completing the perfect look.

Night skiing

Once the sun sets, there are plenty of more opportunities to get some great shots. Every Wednesday and Saturday the 'Zum Kaiser Maximilian' is lit up, allowing for night skiing from seven till half eleven. The powerful lights create shadows in the troughs and undulations across the mountains giving your photos a unique atmosphere.

Lighting

The village is cradled peacefully between two mountain faces that catch the sun at different times of the day. It means you can quickly travel between the two locations, extending the hours available for shooting.

Easy access to ski lifts

At 2,020m, the village offers ski-in ski-out facilities with lifts metres from most of the accommodation. This was a huge help for us; allowing us to transport all of our camera equipment and clothing with ease.
