LA SPORTIVA FOOTWEAR
La Sportiva are synonymous with innovation and quality, and since being founded in 1928 they have provided mountaineering boots, climbing shoes and trail running shoes for countless feats of skill and bravery. Ground-breaking new technologies like the Impact Brake System and 3D Flex ankles have revolutionised thinking inside the mountain footwear industry and vindicate an unwavering dedication to research and development.
TECHNOLOGY
Theory is the indoor performance shoe designed for perfect adaptation to the new forms of indoor-climbing holds. It has a unique construction which uses the exclusive D-Tech™ (Dynamic Technology): the sole wraps the shoe sideways for a total absence of side edges, favouring dynamic support and spreadability on the latest indoor holds. The Vibram® XS-Grip2 sole with differentiated thickness at the toe favours the prehensity of the holds, while the lower volume heel allows for maximum precision in heel hooks. The rubber toe cap covers 90% of the front surface of the uppers to favour toe hooks while maintaining adaptability for different types of foot shapes.
SUSTAINABILITY
La Sportiva has been operating for over 90 years in the environmentally fascinating region of the Val di Fiemme, a valley situated at the foothills of the Dolomites. Such a location fosters a strong sense of responsibility for both social and environmental issues. These have always played a vital role within the company as it strives to make use of low environmental impact technology and production methods. This is further enhanced by the ISO certification which puts the focus on the environment and requires businesses to employ eco–friendly solutions.
HISTORY
The story of La Sportiva cannot be told like the story of any ordinary company, because it is impossible to exclude from the choir of alpinists, climbers, runners, ski mountaineers, co-workers, employees, all the voices which have contributed to where they are today and evolving footwear, material, gestures, habits, ways of firstly understanding the mountains mentally rather than physically.
STORIES
In 2013 La Sportiva joined in partnership with the European Outdoor Conservation Association, the non-profit association that supports charitable initiatives aimed at preserving the environment. These projects range from the cleaning of specific mountain areas (such as Kyrgyzstan), the protection of brown bears in Spain, the greening of forests (Czech Republic), the creation of cross-border hiking trails (Macedonia/Albania), to the rescue of forests from deforestation (Sweden).
