10 Trail Running Instagrammers You Should Be Following

Instagram can be full of inspiration, especially for getting outdoors, but sometimes it can be tricky to find authentic posts that haven't been paid for. We have taken some time to scour the tags and hashtags to find our favourite trail running Instagrammers.

All of them have commitments like family and work just like everyone else, but they still manage to find time to hit the trails for their own reasons. While some are supported by brands this is often for representation on race day rather than Instagram, this makes for some very refreshing and authentic content that might help inspire you. Whether it is for motivation to get out and explore or just a reminder that it's ok to just not feel like running that day.

@confessions_of_a_runner

Rick is the man behind @confessions_of_a_runner and is a Father, Husband and yoga lover too. His account is a catalogue of gorgeous places to hit the trails coupled with examples of how to challenge yourself. He is also not afraid to demonstrate acts of kindness, to the planet and to the people around him.

@randomforestrunner

@randomforestrunner is non-other than John Kelly, the men's record holder and winner of the 2020 Spine race. Between raising his family with wife Jessi and working a day job, John takes every available opportunity to get outdoors and explore wherever he is in the world.

@running_bucky

Based in Guildford, Matt Buck is a trail/ultra runner and coach. While he might be a Salomon athlete his Instagram is relatable and demonstrates a great sense of humour. While he spends much of his time being a family man, exploring the outdoors and running his business, Running Adventures, he also finds time for a pint down the pub, even if it is mid-run.

@thisgirlrunswild

Jacinta is part of the team at Running Adventures and manages to fit her love for running the trails around her love for family life. She is due to move to Vietnam later in the year and we for one can't wait to see where the trails lead her while she is over there.

@beth_pascall

Beth Pascall might have the support of numerous brands for her trail running efforts but she also manages to work as a paediatric doctor in between adventures. Most of her Instagram features envy-inducing scenery on long runs accompanied by her four-legged friend.

@ultra_damo

Much of Damien Hall's Instagram feed is spent encouraging people to get outside while also considering their carbon footprint. He might be an Inov-8 athlete but he won't encourage you to buy a pair until your existing shoes need replacing.

@wildgingerrunning

Wild Ginger Running was set up by Claire Maxted so she had a platform to talk about her favourite thing - trail running. She had previously co-founded and edited the Trail Running magazine for many years but wanted a more regular and informal platform to engage with other runners. As well as candid trail shots she shares tips, tricks and gear reviews for all your running needs.

@girlswhotrail

@girlswhotrail follows two women who love to run as they travel the globe in search of adventure. Sponsored by nothing but their day jobs it really is inspiring to see the energy they have when it comes to exploring and finding new trails and new communities to make friends with.

@thedeterminedrunner

@thedeterminedrunner is our very own member of staff and trail running ambassador Martin Bell. He demonstrates a passion for getting outdoors no matter what the weather and given he lives in the Highlands he has tackled some pretty testing conditions but as you'll see when conditions are good - they're spectacular.

@fellrunlikeagirl

Behind @fellrunlikeagirl is Ruth and she shares a stream of content that demonstrates just how gorgeous running in the Peak District can be. Refreshingly she also shares all the other things about running too including the post-run cake, the frustrations of injury and that actually some days she just doesn't fancy going for a run... and that's ok!
