What is the best ski resort for beginners?

New to skiing and don’t know where to hit the slopes? To help plan your debut ski trip, we’ve compiled our favourite spots to try if you're a beginner.

At these resorts you'll find plenty of ski schools to brush up on your skills. Additionally, many of these resorts offer wide nursery slopes with magic carpet lifts to pull you uphill without the challenge of traditional chairlifts or T-bars.

To get the most from your ski trip, we’d recommend mastering the basics before heading to a resort. The UK is home to a whole host of dry slopes and snowdomes (England has more dry ski slopes than any other country in the world!)

I have always loved being outside and since I began working in the outdoor industry as a teenager I have been trying to find as many excuses to get out in the mountains as possible. Fortunately, working at Ellis Brigham has given me plenty of opportunity to escape the office and test some awesome gear, from trail running shoes to belay devices. Most of the time I can be found kicking around on my local fells in the Lakes, but I am lucky enough to have climbed and skied in some amazing places over the years, including Morocco, Norway and the Alps.

My love for all outdoor adventures began at a very young age and has led me to work for Ellis Brigham for nearly ten years. Having been an outdoor instructor for several years before that, I’ve seen first hand the importance of the outdoors and why everyone should be able to enjoy it.

Driven by a love for the outdoors since an early age, I have summited Mont Blanc, conquered Kilimanjaro, and completed the UK 3 Peaks Challenge multiple times. Whether skiing, surfing, camping or hiking, I am definitely happiest outside, exploring new places with my young family.
