A fastpacking adventure through the Alps

In September, Jon Davies, Store Manager, and Jennifer Bayford, a Ski Supervisor, along with her husband James Bayford, a former Ellis Brigham team member, set out to fastpack the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB).

We are all keen hikers, backpackers, and fell runners who are up for a new challenge. We wanted a European trip with bigger, more impressive mountains and hopefully more predictable weather (sorry, UK). As our first foray into fastpacking, the TMB seemed like the perfect choice. It offered a good distance with big climbs and descents, yet terrain that wasn’t too technical, important since we intended to run sections to save time.

Gear tip

Don't forget your sleeping bag liner

Sleeping bag liners are mandatory in TMB refuges for hygiene reasons. A lightweight silk or synthetic liner keeps you comfortable and ensures you meet refuge requirements without adding extra weight.
