In October this year Ellis Brigham will be opening a brand new store in the Bond Street development in Chelmsford. This store will be one of the biggest stores in our estate and will again raise the bar for the quality and presentation of outdoor and snowsports goods in the UK.

We are looking for a Store Manager who will play a pivotal part in the set up and establishment of the new Store Team and expect the chosen candidate to start prior to the store opening.

As Manager of this store you will be a key individual in the future success of the company. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Store Manager who can demonstrate their ability to deliver consistent growth whilst controlling costs. We will also consider applications from driven Assistant Store Managers who can demonstrate their ability to take on a role of this scope.

We are looking for someone who is a natural leader and man-manager and who is confident leading from the front on the shop floor. They must also be able to inspire and motivate a large and diverse team. Possessing great attention to detail they will be able to drive store standards and achieve compliance across all areas of store operations.

Candidates should have a passion and empathy for the sports we cater for. We do not expect candidates to be an expert in all areas. First and foremost we are looking for an experienced retailer and leader.

You will already be a Store Manager or have similar previous experience elsewhere, and be looking to take the next step in your career.

Prerequisite Experience Required:

  • 2 years minimum Store Management experience (or significant ASM experience)
  • Experienced line manager with good HR knowledge
  • Empathy/Understanding of Ellis Brigham’s customer
  • Experienced in working with KPIs and managing staffing budgets
  • Demonstration of driving teams which deliver high levels of customer service and sales
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to varying working demands

Outsiders Store Manager

From US Pacific North West and Japan we’re seeing a developing retail trend where some of our classic outdoor brands are mixed with workwear and fashion and served up to a largely young, city dwelling audience who are energised by both outdoor spaces and outdoor brand heritage. This new style of customer enjoys being in the great outdoors but seeks an alternative more refined fashion retailer over the established outdoor stores in the UK.

Outsiders Store is our response to this need for a new space opening in outdoor lifestyle retail… much younger, creative and fashion facing.

Liverpool is a vibrant, lively city surrounded by fantastic outdoor opportunities and our aim is to create a relaxed haven in the city supplying high-end fashion forward clothing and accessories to be used in the city that also nudges one to thinking about what may lie beyond its boundaries.

We are looking for someone who shares our enthusiasm for clothing, functional design and creativity as well as enjoying being in the outdoors in whatever capacity. This person will play a key role in the development of the Outsiders Store in the heart of Liverpool’s Bold Street area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the General Manager in shaping retail direction, local marketing and operations.
  • Adhere to company stock procedures to ensure good stock management.
  • Merchandise the store in a high-end fashion style.
  • Deal with all store-associated paperwork and be PC / Mac literate.
  • Utilise weekly stock and sales reports to best benefit the store and staff.
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • Respond to customer emails and social media questions relating to the Liverpool store, and be actively involved in the social media output for Outsiders Store.
  • Have good people management skills and be able to plan monthly rotas in advance.
  • Ordering supplies and keeping tabs on bag levels etc.
  • Delivering staff training and company policies to staff.
  • Represent Outsiders Store and help to develop our offering. You will be the eyes and ears of the business on a local level.

YOU SHOULD BE:

  • Affable as well as being capable of managing staff and creating a pleasant place of work, all the while making it somewhere our customers feel comfortable to spend time and browse.
  • Experienced in high-end clothing retail with management experience.
  • Aware of and able to deliver the type of customer service this space requires and impress this upon your staff.
  • Excited by the brand mix and the products we’ll stock.
  • Knowledgeable of setting targets, managing KPIs and making these meaningful to the rest of the shop team.
  • Able to use your initiative, think on your feet and solve problems that may arise in the day to day running of the store.
  • Have a keen eye and be obsessive over detail with an ability to merchandise expensive product in a modern and relevant style, this will be co-ordinated with the buying team to create the most impact.
  • Part of developing systems and processes for the store.
  • Be excited at the thought of being part of an independent business that is forward thinking.
  • Interested and inspired by the great outdoors.
  • Excellent at recycling and considerate of our effect on the planet without being puritanical.

This is a permanent full-time position based in our Liverpool store on Slater Street.
