We’re super excited to have the new 2024.25 Salomon Depart 01 on early release at Ellis Brigham, because it marks Salomon’s re-entry into the world of freestyle skis again. Not only does it look awesome with its retro-inspired graphics, but it’s also got some pretty unique shaping, with Sami Ortileb and some other pro riders leading the design on them. Looking at them, you’ll quickly notice that they’re not your typical symmetrical twin tip shape, with their distinctive pointy tip and squared-off tail, which give an impression of their smooth handling. They use a super stable 106mm waist that stomps tricks in the park or urban features, as well as in powder or slush, meaning you can take this ski practically anywhere and have fun jibbing about. Add in a decent amount of rocker and you’ve got a ski that loves to butter and smear its way around the whole mountain, plus they've also got a short radius that makes them feel super carvy and playful on hard snow too. This ski is all about creativity and unlocking your full potential to have fun wherever you are on the mountain.

Terrain Type & Ability Level

Terrain Type
With these under your feet the whole resort becomes your playground. Jib an urban feature, lap the park, charge around the piste or play in the powder. These are designed to let your style be free wherever you go!

Skier Type
A skier who is inspired to be creative and adds their own unique flair to every trick, turn, or line they choose. Each day is different, and they want a ski that’s as versatile as they are.

Overview

Shape
In the realm of twin tips, this ski stands out from the crowd. Stepping away from the typical symmetrical style, it sports a distinctive pointy tip and squared-off tail. The shaping, guided by pro riders, along with set-back contact points, make these skis a joy to play on and manoeuvre in the park. With a 106mm waist, they float effortlessly in deep snow. Add to that a playful, turny 14m radius (at 170cm), and you’ve got a ski that is heaps of fun, carving turns wherever you find yourself on the mountain.

Rocker
FS Park Profile - 23% tip rocker 18% tail rocker for hook free landing and mellow turning on firm snow. Soft snow handling is made to feel cruisy and effortless.

Core
Karuba Poplar full woodcore. The Karuba wood keeps things light and agile, while the Poplar brings the strength for control and improved handling. It’s the perfect combo for all mountain capabilities.

Construction
Semi Sandwich Sidewalls give solid edge hold under foot for stomping landings and firm edge hold on firm slopes or take-offs. A capped topsheet at the tip and tail makes the handling feel more progressive for butters or smearing but also adds a layer of protection from edge impacts too.

Key Features

Retro styling
Drawing inspiration from the freestyle community's roots, these skis feature Nico Vuignier's retro looking graphics which are sure to be a head turner on the slopes.

Pro rider shaping
Sämi Ortlieb, a big name within the freestyle community, was given free reign to dream the perfect shape for the ultimate fusion of creativity and function. The Depart 1.0 sees his dreams come to life and gives others the inspiration to ski that little bit more creatively.
