The North Face DNP Hoodie Review

As clothing and equipment providers to Scotland's outdoor training facility, Glenmore Lodge, we can be sure the gear is up to the test. GL Mountain Leader, Nancy took time to review the Women's DNP hoodie, a piece of kit that she relies upon year round.

"The North Face DNP hoodie is a compact, lightweight insulation layer which has slightly stretchy sides and underarm panels which offers ease of movement and protection against the elements.'The stitching on the front means the hoodie sits in a flattering way, it has been designed to be loose fitting. It’s deep blue colour with subtle pink tags on the zips and plentiful pocket size mean that things stay inside them even when the zip is open.'

"I have used the DNP hoodie on a number of occasions, the first time was when I was leading a Summer Mountain Leader (ML) training course where I used it on a night navigation exercise in the Cairngorms. The second was on a rainy day on an ML assessment as a layer under waterproofs. The third time was on a ML training course on the mountain journey day where we were looking at steep ground – the conditions were sunny and dry but with a cool breeze of around 20 – 25 mph.'

"The DNP hoodie is lightweight, breathable and very comfortable. It serves as a fantastic insulation layer and when worn under an outer jacket it breathes well and remains dry. The sleeves are cut well allowing movement when scrambling.'

"I would strongly recommend the DNP Hoodie as it's a fantastic mid or outer windproof insulation layer and I will be continuing to wear it over the coming months."
