Mark Donnelly

Freeskier Mark Donnelly is one of the UK’s most stylish riders, partly in thanks to his love for and influence from skateboarding.

Starting at a young age, Mark was shown the skiing ropes by Jean Wright, a master of her craft. She picked up on his passion and excitement early on and fed the fire that grew bigger than anyone could have imagined.

As Mark reached the back end of his teen years he was hooked, pursuing a career instructing both skiing and snowboarding. He split his time between the Glaswegian Snow Factor and the Canadian Rockies, two very different places but both allowing him to perfect his craft.

Canadian winters are not known for being skateboard friendly and this took a back seat for a while. However, this didn’t stop influences from the skate scene such as Tom Penny and Bastian Salabanzi making their mark. Those who’ve watched Mark’s skiing will have seen how he’s let the style of skiers such as Phil Casabon, Henrik Harlaut and Noah Albaladejo influence him as well.

Back in Glasgow Mark linked up with an awesome crew of likeminded individuals. This became a melting pot of ideas and Dasswamp was conceived, focused on being a fun and friendly vibe that dedicated itself to creativity and pushing the DIY culture in Scottish Snowsports.

As Mark’s presence in the world of skiing grew, so did the support. Brands like Tall T Productions, Ski Creative, Treefort Lifestyles, Line Skis and Full Tilt Boots all rallied around the steezy Scot.

2018 dealt Mark some hardship in the form of a dreaded knee injury, which he has now fully recovered from. Mark’s hard grafting nature is being put towards improving all aspects of his riding, through his skiing, coaching, filming and editing.

Expect the best from Mark, you’re gonna get it!
