The Prodigy 2.0 is the ultimate all-mountain shred-tool. Packing the right ingredients to help you jump, stomp and surf all over the mountain. Its poplar core is soft and poppy to butter slushy rollers while maintaining stiffness underfoot, meaning the only way to beat your last run, is to go back up for another one. Tip and tail rocker are reduced compared to the 1.0 and 3.0 models, giving this 2.0 a more solid feel, without affecting the float and easy pivoting. Surf zones mellow the handling and make buttering easy; the Elliptic Radius Sidecut gives the ski a dynamic feel for mixing up the turn shapes. Venture into the park and the hardened 2.5mm edges ensures the ski is durable on rails; the 98mm waist helps you stomp landings.

Terrain Type & Ability Level

Terrain Type
Skiing everything with a bias towards playing around on the pistes and off the sides.

Skier Type
Advanced and intermediate freestyle skiers who want to ski all mountain. It’s not hard to use, with a flex that’s firm enough to work in rougher conditions and still soft enough for easy handling, butters and smears as well as riding in fresh snow.

Overview

Shape
It’s a directional twin with a tail quite a bit narrower than than tip, built for carving and slarving with occasional switch landings and skiing backwards. The tail rocker is smaller than on the Mana 2.0, making the ski feel more supportive. 98mm in the waist works in a variety of terrain, not too wide or narrow; the 20m (183cm) helps keep things stable.

Rocker
Tip and Tail Rocker uses traditional camber underfoot for response and good edge grip, with rocker at the tip and tail to improve manoeuvrability by aiding turn initiation and completion.

Core
Poplar is a light-colored, medium-weight, durable softwood that flexes and pops nicely as well as having a whole load of vibration absorption capabilities. Used as the only wood in this core, it allows the ski to pop, butter and stomp and also have enough torsional stability to grip impressively on the downhill.

Construction
Full Strength Sidewalls uses a construction that places strips of protective material along the sides of each core, between the edge and the topsheet. Sidewalls provide the best possible edge hold and stability when the ski is engaged in a turn as well as protecting the wood core, edges and topsheet from impact and outside damage. Micro-cap construction is a hybrid of a premium, sandwich sidewall construction fused with a lightweight, durable cap construction. With micro-cap, the sandwich construction provides awesome edge hold and torsional stability while the ski’s topsheet wraps around and meets the sidewall, protecting the fragile join that can be prone to chipping.

Key Features

XL 2.5mm Edges
Thicker edges mean increased durability and impact resistance, crucial for a ski that is built to test the rule book.

Elliptic Radius Sidecut
Elliptical Radius Sidecut is made up of a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii in the tip and tail of the ski. The long radius underfoot means you can pivot faster and easier, while a shorter radius in the tip and tail result in easier turn initiation. This sidecut allows for a wide variety of turns lengths, angles and mounting positions.

Sustainability
RECYCLED MATERIALS, working with production partners to eliminate material waste, they now mix base, sidewall and topsheet material scraps back into the raw material used for production, reducing carbon emissions while ensuring the same level of quality & durability. LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS, in an effort to reduce the impact of their supply chain, Faction strive to source materials from European companies that are based near to their factories. 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY, this ski is produced in a cutting-edge facility that runs on electrical power that is 100% renewable. Additionally, its heating energy comes solely from biomass. The factory no longer uses oil, resulting in annual CO2 emissions reductions of a whopping 10 million kilograms.

EB tester’s comments: Mark (Trainer) A one ski quiver for freestylers who want a wider ski and the added stability that brings. They’re dialled-in for messing about on, surprisingly capable on hard pack and fun off to the side in variable conditions.
