The Lotus 117 is your ever-reliable friend. Take it for big lines in Alaska and long powder tours in Utah to smoothly arc through crud and farm the last pow turns at the resort. The rockered and tapered tip is designed to float over the snow and cut through any weird variations in snow. The ski has a mount point that sets you up for powerful directional skiing and gives balance to pivot turns in tighter spots. Paired with a moderate pintail that helps you float on snow; this is a ski that allows you to make the most of powder in any situation.

Terrain Type & Ability Level

Terrain Type
It’s a powder ski first and foremost, capable of charging steep routes or winding back and just enjoying some mellower fresh pow slopes.

Skier Type
Good skiers looking to add to their quiver with a dedicated deep snow model. It’s surprisingly easy to ski thanks to rocker and shape, but you can still put this on an edge and open the throttle thanks to the high-quality construction.

Overview

Shape
Lotus-shaped skis embody the quest for the perfect powder turn. They feature larger turn radii that encourage big, sweeping turns, elongated rocker lines that allow the skis to quickly plane to the surface and pivot easily, and fat waist widths that generate the floatation and speed desired by experienced powder pilots. These skis were created to make the absolute most out of every powder turn.

Rocker
Rocker at the tip and tail equates to 45% rocker, 55% effective edge. Sounds like a lot but it works perfectly with the shaping. The camber underfoot makes the most of the carbon construction and stable 21m radius.

Core
A poplar wood core blends power, stability and energy without being heavy.

Construction
Full Wrap Integrated Sidewalls guarantee stability and precision, enhancing performance by providing good edge grip and smooth ski-to-snow contact. A mini cap adds extra protection from dings and bangs. The core is sandwiched between 2 full carbon laminates to improve the dampening and keep the weight down.

Key Features

Lotus
These skis were created to make the absolute most out of every powder turn. 25 years of powder ski innovation has led to the current line of Lotus skis. When Peter Turner and Stephan Drake joined forces in 2005, the seeds were already planted for key innovations thanks to their prior experience with powder ski engineering. The Lotus skis revolutionized powder design by experimenting with wide waist widths, rocker, reverse sidecut, and Spoon technology, which ultimately made DPS the first skis to feature bevelled tips. Lotus materials are each individually selected as the best in class. DPS look at performance characteristics, strength, and durability, and into the sustainability metrics of the materials. The aim is to make powder skis that are energetic, powerful, and stable. They also need to be trustworthy and have a long life. DPS are stoked when they see their skis from 10 years ago ripping down the mountain.

EB tester’s comments: Joseph (Aviemore) Surprisingly good on the pistes and exceptionality good off-piste. They move around easily and grip well on hard snow. This would be an amazing resort ski for powder days and will have you sniffing out stashes all day long.
