Charlie Knights

Charlie started running at a very young age spurred on by his marathon running Father. He ran his first ever race at the age of 3 - a 1km race - and moved up the ranks competing in his first ‘ultra’ at the age of 12 years old. 40miles of trails over the South Downs Way dressed in nothing less than thick cotton rugby shirts, walking boots and a kagool. He completed the distance and became the youngest ever finisher at the time in 1996.

Needless to say it inspired a passion of a lifetime, and now he loves nothing more than exploring new places, wildernesses and new trails to run.

His addiction to endurance running has grown over the years and has just completed his 31st Ultra Marathon. He has run races of varying distances from 50 - 100 miles - including the iconic CCC, Lavaredo Ultra Trail and Cotswold Way Century. In 2023 he'll be at the start line of the UTMB which will be a lifetime goal ticked off the list.

Professionally Charlie has been involved in the adventure travel industry for over 12 years, and now owns and operates Pure Trails - a trail running adventure company which specialises in extraordinary small group running experiences around the world. Now in it's fourth year Pure Trails have taken some 100+ runners all over the world from destinations including Albania through to the Himalayas.

More so than anything he loves inspiring people to try a challenge they haven’t done before, and finds the results are incredibly rewarding. Charlie is also a qualified running coach, mountain leader and holds a Wilderness First Aid certificate.
