K2 Disruption Skis

Imagine a world where you’re allowed to dream, to buck the trend and do what feels right, a safe place where the only confine is your imagination. This is a ski designer's nirvana; the world of K2 Skis.

Dreaming gets in the way of the everyday, mundane hum-drum; it creates Disruption.

Welcome to the new range of Disruption piste skis from K2, created out of a desire to keep skiing fun by creating something special, something that ignites the fire within and makes you want to shred the rule book, turn after dirty turn.

Built with next-level Dark Matter Dampening (DMD); a layer of polymer and carbon, laid one on top of the other at the contact points, Disruption skis provide an unparalleled blend of smoothness and sensitivity.

The DMD in the tip, combined with a little early rise Speed Rocker, makes for effortless turn initiation and absorbs high-frequency vibrations without compromising edge grip. The full-length layer of Titanal takes care of lower frequency vibrations, improves torsional performance and stability. Edge grip is further enhanced with K2’s PowerWall, an oversized ABS sidewall extended and laminated into the core of the ski under the binding. The narrowest part of the ski’s also been moved forward, under the toe of the foot rather than the centre. This is an athletic location, resulting in skis with greater versatility in turn shape. As you exit the turn, DMD and slight tail rocker have got your back with effortless release. What does this all mean? You can cut slick lines down the slope without worrying about skis catching too soon or holding onto the turn for too long.

There’s a lot of ways to soak up vibrations, but this often comes at a cost of snow feel, grip or performance. Disruption skis have an incredible mix of smoothness, grip and snow sensitivity that is something special, something you have to feel to believe. It’s time for a change, so get out there and go shred some dirty turns.

Here at Ellis Brigham, we managed to snag a few pairs of these incredible skis, so you can get on them before your mates and take your skiing enjoyment to level 11.

Of the new range, Al Morgan, The Telegraph’s Ski Equipment Editor had this to say;

‘The new range of Disruption skis from K2 are incredible. How they’ve managed to create such a delicate balance of smooth ride and the ability to really feel what’s going on under the skis is quite amazing. The MTi is a stand-out ski and I was really surprised how easy it was to ski such a variety of turn shapes and speeds on these skis. They ooze a premium feel. If you prefer something a bit more turny, then the STi has to be on your shortlist. It’s a special ski and rewards you with so much energy and rebound. You’re left with a massive grin and want to hunt out slopes to blast, turn after turn.’

K2 Recon 130 LV Ski Boots

The K2 Recon 130 is a four buckle, two-piece performance boot without the weight. Coming in at a svelte 1,650g, this boot is fully heat-mouldable, including the Ultralon foam liner, has Fastfit entry, dual cuff alignment, and a rivet free interlock between cuff and clog for a smoother, progressive flex. Stocked in the 98mm last for January 2020, this boot will also be made in a medium volume 100mm last for winter 20/21.

K2 Women's Anthem 110 Ski Boot

Like the Recon, the Anthem will be available in January 2020 in a 98mm low volume last. For winter 20/21 there’ll also be a medium last 100m version.

With Gripwalk soles as standard, both the Recon 130 and Anthem 110 can rip it up on piste with the best of them, and offer plenty of grip if you’re hiking for fresh lines away from the groomers.

THE TECH

Dark Matter Damping (DMD)

K2 Skis Dark Matter Damping Technology

Right at the core of the Disruption series lies K2’s latest ski technology, Dark Matter Damping (DMD). High modulus carbon and polymeric dampers are strategically placed over the edges of the ski. DMD reduces vibrations and chatter along the edge and offers drastically improved edge contact for a smoother, more planted arc in hard and rough snow.

I-Beam Technology

K2 Skis i-beam Technology

The new I-Beam technology is used to generate stability and precision through the entire turn – either Carbon I-Beam or Titanal I-Beam, depending on the model. Both provide enhanced stability, precision and energy transfer along the whole length of the ski.

PowerWall

K2 Skis powerwall Technology

PowerWall technology makes the transmission of energy from skier to ski edge direct and precise thanks to laminated sidewalls that extend into the heart of the ski.
