Outdoor Clothing Technology Winter 11/12
This season sees several new waterproof fabrics hitting the market. There has never been so much competition and choice, making Winter 11/12 a pivotal season in the progression of outdoor technologies.
GORE-TEX Active Shell - A new fabric for fast and light endeavours. Lamination technology integrates the backer textile directly into the waterproof membrane for a very streamlined package. Used in minimalist Alpine jackets as well as those aimed at fast-moving hill walkers, such as the Mountain Equipment Firefox Jkt.
Polartec NeoShell - This is the first waterproof fabric from fleece specialists Polartec. NeoShell is air permeable, which means vapour can move out through the membrane as soon as you start sweating. The first shells to emerge are technical mountaineering pieces like the Rab
Stretch Neo Jkt.
These new fabrics represent a giant leap forward in breathability, keeping you more comfortable on any mountain adventure.
