Atomic Backland 88 Skis 2024

The 2024 Atomic Backland 88 is an all-new ski that perfectly combines touring lightness with solid downhill performance, so you can adventure further, faster and for longer. It's an early release, available exclusively at Ellis Brigham. These skis feature a poplar Light Woodcore and Duracap Sidewalls, which provide powerful yet playful skiing and precise and grippy handling on steep technical routes. HRZN Tech in the tip increases surface area and allows for effortless float in all soft snow conditions from powder to spring slush. The tip also uses a unique blend of fibreglass and wood, giving them their distinctive look but also creating a light yet strong design to aid climbing efficiency while enhancing manoeuvrability and control on the descent. The Backland 88 is perfectly designed to deliver superior performance for skinning up or ripping on the way back down, giving epic all-round performance for your next touring adventure.

Shape
88mm suits the tourer who's looking for a lighter, faster yet stable set-up. Wide enough to take through deeper snow conditions, without adding lots of extra ski weight.

Rocker
All Mountain Rocker 15/85/0. Camber under the foot all the way into the tail gives the ski excellent grip along the skis legth, while the little bit of tip rocker makes the skis more forgiving in variable terrian helping not to feel over reactive thus increasing stability.

Core
Light Woodcore, this lightweight core uses a poplar wood to keep the weight down without compromising performance.

Construction
Dura Cap Sidewall uses sidewall from the base to the top sheet for controlled power transmission and great edge hold. The rounded shape adds durability as it picks up less dings and knocks.

Key Features

HRZN Tech Tip
HRZN Tech blends an ABS sidewall construction with an across-the-ski (horizontal) rocker. This adds 10% more surface area in the tip and tail without increasing swing weight. The result is better tracking through chop and crud and less tip deflection – meaning greater stability, floatation and agility.

Lower Impact Design
A reinterpretation of the original Backland construction, this ski is built with locally sourced poplar wood and an eco-friendlier design that reduces production waste and cuts CO2 emissions by 30%, redirecting energy savings into soulful performance power.

• Sizing Description: Nose level to forehead height is ideal. A longer length is important if there is a bigger rocker or you're spending more time off piste, however, will add etra weight. Keep them shorter for a lighter-overall package if thats important to you.
