The Vapor V has a two-part sole of 3.5mm Vibram XS Edge rubber, delivering grip and edging power but retaining sensitivity.

Asymmetry

Low asymmetry climbing shoes are comfortable and distribute load widely but transfer less power. Highly asymmetrical shoes primarily weight the big and index toes to transfer more power.

Bi-Tension system

Scarpa's Bi-Tension slingshot rand anchors under the toe and connects to the heel. It pulls power from the toes without cramming them forward, enhancing performance while reducing forefoot pressure.

The two-part sole construction increases midfoot flex to adapt to changing holds and steepness. It also means the shoe can be resoled in sections to reduce waste.
