The North Face Boy’s McMurdo Parka is named after an Antarctic research station, as this rugged parka is designed to keep young explorers warm and dry, whether on the walk to school or expeditions to the park. It combines lofty 600 fill down in the body with Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation in the hood to keep them toasty warm on winter days. A waterproof, breathable, seam-sealed, DryVent shell stops the rain from getting them wet. The hood is elasticated for a snug fit that keeps the weather out, and it is finished with a removable faux-fur trim.

PFC-Free
Per- and polyfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) are a family of human-made, fluorine-containing chemicals. They have long been used to add water and stain repellent properties to technical fabrics. PFCs can harm the wearer of the garment and damage nature. Incredibly resistant to breakdown, these pollutants have been found across the globe; they can remain in the environment for many years after release. In response, a growing number of PFC-Free products are being developed, designed to provide reliable water repellency without the use of these harmful chemicals.
Recycled
Patagonia first made a fleece from recycled plastic bottles in 1993, since then more and more brands have been ‘recycling rubbish’ to make the high-performance clothing and equipment that we all love to rely on in the outdoors. There are now many different types of materials and products made from waste that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.
Responsible Down Standard
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm. It is an independent, voluntary global standard, which means that companies can choose to certify their products to the RDS, even if there is no legislation requiring them to do so. The RDS was developed and revised over three years, with the input of animal welfare groups, industry experts, brands, and retailers. The standard recognises and rewards the best practices in animal welfare. Find out more
