Ortovox designed the Avabag LiTRIC Tour 30 with one thing in mind: to make the mountains safer for backcountry skiers. Built around LiTRIC, Ortovox's electronic airbag system, this modular avalanche airbag pack is perfect for ski touring.
The modular design features two sections: an Avabag LiTRIC Tour 30 Zip-On attachment and a base comprising the LiTRIC airbag system and back panel.
The LiTRIC electronic airbag system is powered by a combination of supercapacitors and a lithium-ion battery. Together, they ensure reliable operation down to -40°C without a drop in performance. The unit takes around 25 minutes to charge via USB-C: one charge enables at least two airbag activations. Intuitive to use, LiTRIC makes it easy to practise and get crucial familiarisation with the airbag system before you head into the mountains.
To trigger the airbag, you pull the deployment handle; you can turn the handle 180° to block the system for protection against false activation. A radial high-performance compressor with an axial diffusor then fills the airbag in four seconds. The airbag has a 150-litre capacity, made from pliable two-layer fabric that's quick to repack into the pocket - no complicated folding necessary.
Alongside the airbag system, the base section of the pack also features Ortovox's Full Light Contact back panel. With adjustable shoulder and hip belt straps, plus cushioning and lumbar support, the Tour 30 is comfortable to carry with full loads and on long ascents.
The Avabag LiTRIC Tour 30 Zip-On attachment has a 30-litre capacity that is ideal for day tours. At the front, an avalanche safety kit pocket - with sleeves for a shovel handle and probe - allows quick access to your emergency equipment. The main compartment is hydration bladder compatible, with a light-coloured internal fabric to help you spot gear faster. External straps offer ski, snowshoe, helmet, and ice axe attachment points.
Ortovox's modular system means you can attach their various Avabag LiTRIC Tour and Freeride Zip-On attachments (sold separately) to the base section - adapting the pack to different backcountry scenarios without compromising comfort, safety, or performance.
