Giving Outdoor Gear A 2nd Life
Here at Ellis Brigham, we’re working with homeless charities across the UK to recycle your outdoor gear and give it a second life.
An estimated 320,000* people are homeless in the UK and these individuals have a need for good quality clothing and equipment to keep them dry and warm whilst on the streets.
The value of unused clothing in wardrobes has been estimated at around £30 billion with an estimated £140 million worth of clothing going into landfill each year**
Our ‘2nd Life’ initiative matches the needs of the homeless with unused clothing and aims to help protect homeless people from the elements whilst reducing the environmental impact of sending clothes to landfill.
Charities That Will Benefit:
Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) - London
SCT was one of the first organisations in the UK offering shelter and support for alcoholic and homeless men founded by the church community at Christchurch in Spitalfields following the tragic death of a homeless man on the steps of their church.
For more than 50 years they have been working in east London to rebuild the lives of people in recovery from addiction and homelessness.
Over that time they have supported thousands of people to move away from chaotic lives on the edges of our society. Sadly the situation is still critical for homeless and addicted people with over 440 people dying on the streets over the last 12-months.

They also offer a range of creative activities and volunteering opportunities including peer mentoring to build confidence, skills and wellbeing.
