Perflourinated Chemicals (PFCs) are commonly used as a durable water repellent on outdoor gear and footwear. These carcinogenic compounds degrade very slowly and persist in our environment. KEEN has switched to alternative chemistries that meet the same performance standards and are safe for people and the planet.

Environmentally Preferred Leather

KEEN sourcse environmentally preferred leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), the gold standard for responsible leather. The LWG-certified tanneries KEEN works with use a closed-loop system that reduces water and energy use, and completely eliminates waterwater pollutions.

Eco Anti-Odor

Probiotic technology naturally and effectively breaks down odor in sweat without heavy metals or hazardous chemicals. This easy choice has eliminated 7,000 kg of pesticides/biocides from going into the environment each of the past few years.
