James Rudge

James Rudge was born without the lower part of his left arm and is on his second year climbing with the GB Paraclimbing Team.

He has always been interested in adventure and in challenging his body through various sports but Parkour was what drew him in from a young age. After many years practising this, he decided to start giving climbing a go and attending the national Paraclimbing series. James hasn’t looked back since!

Last year was his first year on the team and he attended his first international competition. This year though he is really trying to step up his training in all departments in a bid to work up the rankings and work towards a podium finish.

James' involvement in the Paraclimbing events has also seen him start to get more involved in the inclusive climbing community as a whole. After volunteering for 2 years James and two others decided to set up their own charity, “Bristol Inclusive Thrill seekers”. They aim to make adventure sports something that everyone can get involved in and try.

They have facilitated climbing and parkour sessions for people with all kinds of physical impairments and learning difficulties and been on a real journey this past year or so.

Living with one hand has given James an appreciation of the unique qualities people hold and given him a real desire to push his body in ways others may not deem possible.
