“We’re in business to save our home planet.”
Since their first catalogue in 1972, Patagonia have acknowledged that they can no longer assume that the Earth’s resources are limitless. This is more so apparent today than ever, which is why Patagonia gives 100% of profits to fight the environmental crisis, protect nature and biodiversity, and support thriving communities.
In Spring 2022, 87% of Patagonia's range contains preferred materials which consist of recycled fabrics, ocean plastics, regenerative organic cotton, and PFC free waterproof membranes. These material innovations, combined with a rigorous field testing program ensure that your Patagonia product meets their commitment to building the best product, whilst causing no unnecessary harm to people or planet.
1% FOR THE PLANET
Since 1985, Patagonia has pledged 1% of sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment. Patagonia have awarded over $145 million in cash and in-kind donations to grassroots environmental groups around the world helping them to stay vigilant and to protect the irreplaceable.
Patagonia was founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard making climbing equipment for the Yosemite climbers of the era. Over the last 50 years Patagonia has evolved to make clothing and gear, however Yvon's original philosophy of simplicity and environmental consideration runs at the core of every decision the company makes.
ANSWER WITH ACTION
For almost 50 years Patagonia has supported grassroots groups working on the ground to find solutions to the environmental crisis. But in this time of unprecedented threats, it’s often hard to know the best way to get involved. That’s why Patagonia are connecting individuals with their grantees, in order to take action on the most pressing issues facing the world today.
