The second generation Proto is aimed at experienced riders who are looking for a high performance all terrain board that can take on everything that the mountain can throw at. Whether hitting big park booters or dropping back country powder faces this versatile all mountain twin takes it all in its stride.
For 2017 Never Summer has stepped up the performance of the Proto to another level, by adding their more dynamic Ripsaw Rocker Camber profile, which increases the camber under the feet, both edge hold and pop have improved dramatically, all without compromising the versatility and feel of the Original Rocker Camber shape.
Internally as you would expect with any Never Summer board, the Proto utilises some of the very best materials available. Heading this up is the lightweight NS SuperLight core. This lightweight poplar and birch core delivers the perfect balance of pop and power without ever feeling overly aggressive. To this Never Summer then add structural layers formed from their own advanced pre impregnated Bi-Lite fibreglass. This is then reinforced with carbon fibre braces under the binding inserts and carbon stringers running from the contact points to the insert pack, and helps to deliver the Proto's stunning trademark performance.
However, don' t go thinking that this is a flat out or nothing kind of board, thanks to the addition of RDS 2 Dampening System, the Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers and the Harmonic Tip and Tail Dampeners, the Proto is a board that you can cruise around on those days where you really just want to take it a bit easier.
Finally to ensure that the Proto has the speed to match its performance Never Summer fit it with a super fast sintered XT 5501 base.
