THE COOL BEANS MORE VERSATILE BROTHER.
Just imagine what would happen if someone took that short, wide profile powder board concept and integrated it into a longer all terrain board. How much fun would that be to ride as your everyday board? Well, the answer is loads, because that's precisely what K2 has done with the Party Platter. Taking inspiration from the Cool Bean, K2 have integrated that powder focussed nose and Volume Shift Technology into a longer, more versatile all terrain board. This has created what is without a doubt one of the most fun to ride all-terrain boards on the market.
All-terrain riders who are looking for an all-new riding experience every time they strap in.
The Party Platter is built around a unique tapered directional shape. With its extended nose kick snow is channelled under the front creating unbelievable levels of lift and float at the nose. At the tail the shortened tapered shape allows the back of the board to sink, once again pushing that nose up. However, it's the Volume Shift chassis that is the key to the Party Platters stunning ride. This innovative design swaps length for volume. So, by adding width, you still get the same surface area of a longer board but in a far more compact shape. What this also gives you, is a far nimbler ride which is great for riding trees and playing around. That extra width isn't just great for powder riding though. On piste it allows you to get the board laid out into carves with absolutely no worries about toe and heel drag.
To ensure that the Party Platter delivers stunning performance both in the pow and on the piste K2 use their directional rocker profile. Although classed as a rocker it's not like rocker you would find on most boards. This innovative profile extends the rocker through the length of the nose to just past the contact points, rather than under the feet. This helps deliver that unrivalled float at the front of the board for that class-leading powder board performance. Now where the rocker finishes the Party Platter reverts to a flat profile. This allows the board to power up the edges and adds stability at speed. To finish off the low lift at the tail allows the rider to drive the back of the board through the turn making edge to edge transitions easy and poppy.
Heading up the Party Platters quality construction is the B.A.P core. Created from a combination of beech, aspen and paulownia it delivers the perfect balance of durability, performance and light weight. This is then wrapped with structural layers formed from bi-ax glass. This gives the Platter its playful nature and is key to why it's so much fun to ride. However, as the Party Platter is built to be a lot more versatile than the Cool Bean, K2 add their Ollie Bar technology to the board. This places a pre-bent bar through the centre of the board to dial in additional pop and power, ensuring that the Party Platter has enough oomph to satisfy even the most demanding rider.
