SHORT BOARD ALL TERRAIN FUN
The Cool Bean was one of the first of that new generation of short boards that worked off the principle of swapping length for volume. The fact that it's still in the range and remains relatively unchanged from when it was first launched is a testament to just how right K2 got this board. With its classic Volume Shift swallow shape and extended nose, the Cool Bean delivers maximum float in deep snow. Going over the nose in the pow is almost impossible on this board, which is quite remarkable for something so short. However, the Cool Bean is so much more than just a powder board. Get this thing on groomers and that extra width allows you to lay down trench digging carves with no fear toe and heel drag. Without a doubt one of the most fun to ride boards on the market.
All riders who are looking for an all-new riding experience both in the pow and on the piste.
The Cool Bean is built around a unique swallow tail tapered directional shape. With its extended nose kick snow is channelled under the front creating unbelievable levels of lift and float at the tip. At the tail, the combination of the tapered shape and short swallow design displaces snow allowing the back of the board to sink, once again pushing that nose up. However, it's the Volume Shift chassis that is the key to the Cool Beans stunning ride. This swaps length for volume. By adding width you still get the same surface area for a given size, but what you also get is a far nimbler ride, which is great for riding trees and playing around. That extra width isn't just great for powder riding though. On piste it allows you to get the board laid out into carves with absolutely no worries about toe and heel drag.
To ensure that the Cool Bean delivers stunning performance both in the pow and on the piste K2 use their directional rocker profile. Although classed as a rocker it's not like rocker you would find on most boards. This innovative profile extends the rocker through the length of the nose to just past the contact points, rather than under the feet. This helps deliver that unrivalled float at the front of the board for that class-leading powder board performance. Now where the rocker finishes the Cool Bean reverts to a flat profile, this allows the board to power up the edges and add stability at speed. To finish off the low lift at the tail allows the rider to drive the back of the board through the turn making edge to edge transitions easy and poppy.
Heading up the Cool Bean's quality construction is the B.A.P core. Created from a combination of beech, aspen and paulownia it delivers the perfect balance of durability, performance and light weight. This is then wrapped with structural layers formed from bi-ax glass. This gives the Cool Bean its playful nature and is key to why it's so much fun to ride.
