I work outdoors in forestry and this jacket is top draw for me and many other people working in tough environments. It’s material stands up against snagging and rough work, and the pockets are perfect!
I only wax the shoulder area as I’m working hard all day and want the wind resistance and breathability. It’s a timeless piece of kit and with a wool shirt underneath you won’t go far wrong.
Wonderful heritage technical fabric.
The Fjallraven Greenland Jacket really is a timeless classic. Yes, there are more modern technical fabrics on the market, but they won't let you play with the breathability/water repellency like the G-1000 fabric allows you to do with wax (less=more breathable, more=increased repellency). It makes for a really personal relationship with your gear, and there is a real heritage vibe to the process. The fabric is also extremely hard wearing. I myself prefer the Greenland jacket to the Greenland winter version, as these jackets are designed to last years, and I can't see the sherpa lining of the winter version looking too great after a few years of washing. At least with this you can layer up accordingly and the jacket will look tidy for years to come. I also love the Fjallraven arctic fox logo... it's just so classy a design, and the whole package will look just as good on a ramble in the mountains or a stroll through town. Full marks, Fjallraven. I love it.
