The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and Christmas decorations are in shops already. For some people it might mean battening down the hatches finding the biggest wooliest jumper they can find and hiding for the winter until the daisies poke through again.

But... for others, and most of you reading, it means only one thing – the best time of year - the latest ski equipment hitting the shelves!

Here at Ellis Brigham we are getting our staff geared up and fully prepared for the 14/15 ski season. Over the last couple of weeks we have been busy arming them with the best knowledge, techniques and advice provided by industry experts.

We kicked off our staff training with the ski test. 30 staff attended from various stores, all desperate to get their hands on and test the new gear for the season (this is in addition to the 18 staff who were out in the Alps training last May). On site we had 9 brands, over 70 skis and the associated reps for answering any questions.

We have also just completed our annual tour that SIDAS host specifically for Ellis Brigham, focusing on the SUREfit procedure for ski boot fitting and our custom fit insoles. The result of this is that a customer can expect the same excellent service whether they go in to one of our London stores or to the Scottish resort town of Aviemore.

SIDAS bring over Jules Mills who has 25 years of boot fitting experience from owning his own boot fitting store, working with professional and Olympic racers for Rossignol, Lange and Salomon, as well as working with several brands to help develop and design ski boots. Also on hand was Julian Thorp, a practicing podiatrist and boot-fitter of over 25 years. This was backed up by training, buying and sales staff from Ellis Brigham, SIDAS and Salomon that put a wealth of knowledge and a century's worth of boot fitting experience in one room! With different levels covered and topics ranging from problem solving to advanced footbed-techniques all staff leave with new knowledge and improved skills.

So if you're like us and can’t wait for the season to get going then head into one of our stores to see the latest gear and speak with some friendly, knowledgeable and like-minded staff. We look forward to seeing you soon!
