SIGB Ski Test - Day 1
Day one and we could not have asked for better conditions. Clear blue skies and brilliant sunshine, perfectly groomed pistes and even though the off-piste is tracked the snow is still light.
The first day of testing is always focused on key categories and this means all mountain skis for men and women. More specifically we tested the all mountain carve models, skis that need to excel on groomed snow and still have the stability and handling to conquer some powder and variable conditions.
Kuhtai is a beautiful quiet valley just 30 minutes from Innsbruck in the Austrian Tyrol and it's ideal for the mix of skiing we need for testing. The lifts serve a variety of terrain, with a range of well-groomed pistes and easily accessible off-piste.
Having 7 testers meant we could split into 2 groups, 1 focusing on higher performance skis, the other targeting entry level and intermediate models, so each group headed for the most suitable terrain.
We completed over 100 tests this first day, visiting a range of brands and trying both brand new models and slight re-works from the 13/14 season. We can safely say that there are some very impressive skis next year including a couple of new skis that will definitely get a LOT of positive attention!
More to come on ski details over the next 5 days.
Testing was done by 4.15 and like any good ski day it ended with some time in a bar and a few tales of the days adventures before it was time to head back to our lovely little hotel!
Lots of testing potential here...
