Mountain Innovations Mountain Equipment Tupilak Backpack Range

Mountain Equipment have been raising the bar of mountaineering clothing for over five decades, and after nearly 15 years the Tupilak heralds their long-overdue return into the world of rucksacks. The wait was worth it – they’ve spent that time working out exactly what we need and want in a pack when in the mountains, and ensuring they deliver it perfectly.

Designed to be lightweight and versatile to accommodate climbers and mountaineers, the pack offers a simple design that is superbly functional and weather resistant.

PACT Fabric

The custom-made PACT fabric utilises high-tenacity nylon 6.6 with a double rip-stop construction for excellent durability. It boasts a durable water repellent coating on the outside while an impermeable TPU inner coating offers further weather protection. This will help to ensure the pack doesn’t gain any extra water weight in wet conditions but also goes a long way in protecting the kit inside.

Detachable Components

two rucksacks

Each of the components of the bag i.e. compression straps, ice axe toggles and shock cord system are detachable, allowing you to take off what you don't need and leave on what you do. This is ideal for keeping weight to a minimum and reducing elements that could snag on trees and rocks.

Integrated Cowl Lid Closure

an open pack and a close up of fastening

In order to ensure extra protection from the elements there is an integrated cowl-lid that can be fastened with an easy to grab grappler buckle with ‘lobster tail’ and pincer design. This allows fail-safe locking with a single hand, perfect when wearing thick gloves or battling wintry weather conditions.

Internal Roll Top Closure an open rucksack next to a closed rucksack

The internal roll top closure will offer further protection from the elements but also helps to compress and stabilise the contents of your pack when you’re on the move.
