Atomic Count AMID Ski Helmet 2020 Review
The Atomic Count AMID is a new all-mountain ski helmet that combines ground-breaking design and technology with class-leading comfort. It’s the Chris Benchetler pro model and is worn by several other pros, so we thought we would take a closer look at the helmet and see what it’s all about.

Initial Thoughts About The Atomic Count AMID Ski Helmet
As soon as you pick up the helmet you’re hit by the attention to detail and the lightness of the design. The chin strap contains an easy-pull magnetic buckle which allows you to keep your gloves on and the merino cap liner sits softly against your skin as you slide the helmet on.
A quick spin of the sizing dial on at the back of the liner and placement of your goggles under the integrated bungie cords (which sit flush to the shell) and you’ve got a solid and comfortable fit.
Atomic Count AMID Ski Helmet Key Features
AMID
AMID - Atomic Multi-directional Impact Deflector is a series of dual-density foam islands that are attached to the core of the helmet. Their placement and structure allow them to move in any direction when there is an impact.
This increases the length of time over which force from any multi-direction impact is absorbed, resulting in less shock to the head and brain.
Holo Core
This is ‘egg-carton’ like construction creates an extended crumple zone offering greater shock absorption for heavy impacts.
Inverted Hybrid Shell
An ABS hard shell and Holo Core makes up the sides, back and front of the helmet for greater protection and structural stability while the upper in-mold section minimises weight.
Live Fit & 360 Fit System
These two systems work together to produce a custom fit that is tuned to the diameter and shape of your head. The Live Fit is a strip of memory foam that molds to the front and side of your skull for a bespoke shape and extra impact protection for low-speed impacts.
At the back of the helmet sit the 360 Fit System. This can be adjusted in height to fit the shape of your head while the quick-dial closes around the circumference of your head for a safe fit that is comfortable all day long.
Recco
Sitting within the helmet is a RECCO reflector which acts as an additional aid for avalanche rescue.
3M Merino Cap Liner
Inside of the helmet sits a 3M insulated and merino lined liner. This combination helps you stay warm and dry wicking away moisture while trapping body. Silver coated fibres and the antibacterial properties of merino help keep the liner fresh when skiing and the liner can be removed and washed if needed.
