We're proud to be partnering with Scotland's biggest freeride event that kicks off this weekend!

Over the next 6 weeks the most accomplished, free-spirited off-piste enthusiasts of Scottish snowsports will be taking to the more extreme faces of the Scottish mountains to drop off cliffs and perform outstanding displays of skill on their skis and snowboards, in a competition tour known as THE SCOTTISH FREEDOM SERIES.

288 snowsports freeriders, who love skiing in deep soft snow, down rocky mountain faces have registered to compete in what has been described as "Scotland's Big Mountain Freeride Tour", and the "gnarliest events on the snowsports calendar".

The Scottish Freedom Series, which is run by Snowsport Scotland, is named as such because of the sense of freedom offered to riders sliding down open, untouched mountain faces.

In the UK, it is simply a unique competition format, unlike any other, with the most fantastic vibe and community of riders that re-convene each year for this celebration of the freedom of the mountain. Freeride competition is however a worldwide phenomenon, with the "Freeride World Tour" offering top level riders the opportunity to compete internationally at World Class level. There has been talk of this form of competition becoming an Olympic discipline, but that may be some years away yet.

The first of this year's events "THE LAWERS OF GRAVITY" takes place on 10th February, in the Ben Lawers range of mountains, just north of Loch Tay. If you are the mountain type, and fancy coming up to watch the spectacle, be sure wrap up warm – you're in for an awe-inspiring spectacle of jaw dropping skill and freeriding.
