Are you looking to get back out rock climbing after lockdown but are feeling rusty? Are you new to climbing outside and looking for some advice? Join us and our friends at Glenmore Lodge for a free talk where you'll come away with a skills and safe practices checklist to give you extra confidence to get back out on the rock this spring.
Glenmore Lodge offer world-class training in outdoor adventure sports. The lodge is a hub for some of the worlds most qualified and experienced guides and instructors. As well as offering courses to help develop your own personal confidence and skills in the mountains, they train the next generation of mountain guides to perform at the highest level in the worlds harshest places.
This talk is hosted by Stuart McAleese IFMGA, Glenmore Lodge Instructor.
“Originally from Northern Cumbria, I started out hillwalking in the Lake District when I was at school. I soon become interested in rock climbing and mountaineering, and was lucky enough to work and climb with Mountain Guides during my first job leaving school. Since then I’ve been working full time in the mountains for around 20 years.
At the same time as working, I enjoy climbing in my free time and have been lucky enough to go on many expeditions around the world, climbing new mountains, first ascents and tough remote summits; places such as Patagonia, Alaska, Himalaya, Peru, Baffin Island, Yosemite and China. In 2004 I was nominated for the prestigious Piolet d’Or in Grenoble, France, for a 1st ascent of the ‘Supa Dupa Couloir’ in Alaska."
The talk starts at 8 pm and will be live and interactive on Zoom (sign up below) and on Facebook. Come armed with any burning questions about climbing for Stu!
