Tues 7th Feb 2017
Wed 15th Feb 2017
In association with Mountain Equipment and GORE-TEX we are delighted to welcome back author, ice climber and climber Dave MacLeod to Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports this February to share his expertise and experiences.
Dave MacLeod is a Scottish rock climber. In April 2006, he established the climb Rhapsody on Dumbarton Rock which, at a grade of E11 7a, was possibly the hardest traditional climbing route in the world.
Ice Climbing Masterclass Session
Dave will be offering Ice Climbing Masterclass sessions during the afternoon and a handful of lucky people will win an hour on the ice with Dave as he shares his ice climbing tips and tricks.
Please note you should only enter this competition if you have ice climbed before as this session is unsuitable for beginners. Should you wish to register for an Introduction to Ice Climbing session then please visit the booking page www.vertical-chill.com

Ice Age Talk
Dave will speak about his background in all-round Scottish mountaineering, reading about and repeating the famous ice lines from Jimmy Marshall and Robin Smith from the 1960s, the harder mixed routes from the 80s and 90s and adding his own modern steep mixed and ice routes to places such as Ben Nevis with ascents such as Anubis XI, 12, and Echo Wall E11.
He found that in learning from these legends of ice climbing by speaking to them and climbing their routes, that not much separates them from climbers of the modern era in terms of inspiration, determination and technique.
Price: £7 - all proceeds go to Mountain Rescue
