Shirin Sabestari spent her childhood growing up in Iran. In an often restrictive country, she would explore the mountains to find her sense of freedom. This experience would come to shape her future as she dreamt of bigger adventures.
Today Shirin lives in London with her family and in this talk she will explain just how climbing changed her life when growing up and how its impact is still being felt now that she has her own children. Shirin's passion for the mountains and Iran is now very much part of her life and she has run three expeditions to explore the country's peaks. During the talk, Shirin will show Damavand - An Iranian Dream, a 15 minute film covering her expedition of Iran's highest mountain. She will also be offering advice for climbing in remote and volatile areas such as Iran including travel info, safety and security, and restrictions.
