Anna McNuff - Riding High in South America
We are delighted to welcome Anna McNuff back to Ellis Brigham this autumn to share her most recent adventure - riding across South America.
Anna is an endurance athlete, adventurer and mischief maker. Once upon a time she represented Great Britain at rowing, but after ‘retiring’ in her mid twenties, she began darting around the world on the hunt for new and exciting endurance challenges. She has run the length of New Zealand, and has a penchant for cycling and rollerblading.
Recently named by Conde Naste Traveller as one of the 50 most influential travellers of our time and by the Guardian as one of the top modern female adventurers there can be no denying that Anna is someone who grabs life with two hands and shakes things up. Following on from her 'ridiculous' idea to ride a bike through the 50 states of the USA her most recent adventure sees her ascend over 80,000 metres on a bike over 6 months riding across South America
The aim of the journey was simple go the longest route over as many mountains as possible taking in the culture, meeting as many people and enjoying the landscapes as you go. Her adventure took her through Bolivia, Chile and onto Argentina and in this talk she will share some of the stunning scenery she encountered as well as the highs and lows of spending so much time at 4,000m on a bike!
On the night Anna will also be signing and selling copies of her new book about running the length of New Zealand, 'The Pants of Perspective' on the night.
