Wind energy runs their HQ in Boulder where their outerwear is designed with eco-friendly materials, and best practices. In 1978 David Jacobs, a former Canadian National Ski Team member created the first Spyder sweater. The technical, padded, race sweater was made in his kitchen and started as a simple project that quickly expanded. In 1994 Jacobs created the speed wyre race suit, which was ultimately banned from racing as it gave racers an unfair advantage. Product innovation has been essential from the beginning and remains a key focus for Spyder.
