STAFF SPRING PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS

We always say the only way to find out whether an item really does what it’s supposed to do is to try it out. Our staff are always out there trying out the latest products and giving feedback. In this blog post our staff give us a selection of highlights from our current clothing and equipment range and the reasons why it’s a standout item for them this spring.

Salomon Men's Cosmic 4D 2 GTX Walking Boots
Highlighted by Mike, Web Team: "I've had the Cosmics for years and wore them almost every day while travelling New Zealand, hiking some of the world's best trails in every summer and winter condition imaginable. The Cosmic 2's are the perfect upgrade - incredibly lightweight with superb fit and support - plus they look awesome!"

Petzl-Charlet Nomic Ice Axe
Highlighted by Sam, Mail Order Team: "I have used these On mixed, ice, dry tooling and my friend says they are good for alpine use as well. They are probably my favourite tool and will be planning on buying them for next season, hoping that it will be as good as this year's."

Scarpa Mens's Rebel Lite GTX Walking Boots
Highlighted by John, Manchester Mountain Equipment: "I tried a pair of these boots on during a Scarpa training session with Tim Emmet. I found the design to be highly innovative. The fit of the boot is really flexible - especially around the ankle. This, in combination with the lightweight nature of the boot, renders it perfect for scrambling in Britain and further afield. I cannot wait to get my hands on a pair!"

Rab Men's Spark Jacket
Highlighted by Jack, Castleford: "I can't believe how light it is! The stuff sack is very convienient, making it the perfect jacket for packing into a rucksack on long walks, hikes or climbs 'just in case'."

Haglofs Men's Gram AM GTX Trail Running Shoes
Highlighted by Andrew, Aviemore: "Speaking from experience, these are a great mixed trail shoe. Really comfortable on harder/packed trails yet supportive and grippy when the terrain gets looser. The best of both worlds!"

Powertraveller Powermonkey Extreme
Highlighted by Sean, Graphics Team: "As a 21st century nomad the Powermonkey Extreme is something that is essential. Offering power that I can take on the road or up in the hills, I can explore the world knowing my tech always has some juice!"

Camelbak Eddy Bottle Insulated 600ml
Highlighted by Susan, Braehead: "I love this water bottle. It's super-hardcore and has survived the many times I've dropped it! It keeps the contents cold for ages and is very easy to clean. Also fun to sticker up!"

Petzl Myo RXP Headtorch
Highlighted by Brian, Liverpool: "The Petzl Myo RXP Headtorch is one peace of gear that I take with me on any trip to the mountains, be it an expedition or a few days camping. The combination of its 97 meter beam, 160 lumens, 95 hour battery life and a weight of 175 grams make it a must for any trip."

Sherpa Men's Namche Half Zip Top Fleece
Highlighted by Ollie, Mail Order Team: "A classic Polartec fleece from a brand that stands for ethics and performance. Perfect for when it cools off in the summer evenings."

The North Face Women's Alpine Project GTX Active Jacket
Highlighted by Emma, Stratford: "This jacket really is designed for its purpose. It's fitted but yet not too tight and not too short, which gives you the ability to move freely and that is what you truly want from an active shell. And the combination of colours makes it look good as well!"

Osprey Aether 70 Rucksack
Highlighted by Isaac, St. Paul's: "The Aether 70 would be the ideal backpack for travelling as it is the perfect size! The J-zip offers easy access which is incredibly handy. It's also very sturdy, solid and a comfortable pack for trekking. It will be amazing for my upcoming trip to the Greek Islands and the volcanes of The Canary Islands at the end of summer!"

Rab Women's Spark Jacket
Highlighted by Chelsea, Milton Keynes: "Since I bought this jacket I have worn it to and from work everyday on my bike. It is the perfect lightweight jacket for me at the moment as it is really breathable so during the uphills I don't overheat."

The North Face Men's Storm Track Short
Highlighted by Simon, Chester: "Used all last summer - a very quick drying short! Light enough to use on the hot days and not overheat, with plenty of stretch in the fabric to not interfere with riding. They also come in blue, so whats not to like?"

Arc'teryx Haku Rope Bag
Highlighted by Jack, Chester: "All the features you need from a rope bag with a sneaky trick up its sleeve. A slot in the centre of the rope tarp means your rope drops straight into the bag when lifted up. A simple idea which saves time spent messing around with your rope after climbing."

Salomon Women's Fast Wing Hoodie
Highlighted by Josephine, Westfield: "Lightweight and versatile, this can be used for running or cycling. It’s small enough to stuff into a pocket and has reflective logos, thumb loops, armpit vents, a hood and my favourite part are the buttons which you can fasten when the jacket is open so it doesn't flap around. A Great colour!"

Marmot Men's Tempo Jacket
Highlighted by Zeb, Westfield White City: "The Marmot Tempo Jacket is the perfect softshell for summer. It fits to the body perfectly and streches with ease as you move. It resists light summer showers, while the excellent breathability ensures you stay dry on the inside as well. What more could you want?"

Haglofs Men's Lizard Top
Highlighted by Kuba, Westfield White City: "Perfect soft shell which will give you protection from the elements and feels like a second skin. You can climb in it for hours and not even notice you have it on."

Black Diamond Vapor Helmet
Highlighted by Andi, Bristol: "I really like this new superlight climbing helmet. For someone like myself who absolutely hates having them on because of the extra bulk and gets really hot in them, this is a great solution. A lightweight, sleek, extremely ventilated, bright coloured (fun/safety) piece. Just love it!"
