MOUNTAIN INNOVATIONS: DRAGON LUMALENS

Dragon introduced Lumalens technology into their goggles a few seasons ago, vastly improving the clarity and contrast in a variety of light conditions. For this coming winter they refined the tech; dialling in the light transmission, increasing the number of tints and working with pro athletes and artists to create some beautiful colourways.

We take a closer look at Lumalens technology and how it affects your vision on the hill.

What is Dragon’s Lumalens Technology

Dragon describe Lumalens as:

“Lumalens is a colour optimised lens technology offering ultra high-definition optics across the entire spectrum of light conditions. Engineered to optimise and improve visibility in all environments, Dragon’s LUMALENS technology delivers enhanced colour vividness, increased contrast and precise depth perception, and reduces eye fatigue for optimal performance.”

How does it work?

A simplest way to explain of how Lumalens works is that it light filter – blocking wavelengths you don’t want (promoting haze and glare) and letting through wavelengths that you do (promoting contrast and clarity).

When the intensity of light hitting the lens changes i.e it gets cloudy, the lens automatically adjusts and tweaks the light entering the goggle - maintaining optimised vision.

What are the benefits?

  • Reduces eye fatigue
  • Increases depth perception and colour recognition
  • Enhances contrast

With better vision in all conditions you can see more bumps, ruts and contours on the mountain. This allows you to react quicker and stay agile, increasing your fun - keeping you safe.

2018 Collection

As well as creating several new pro models, Dragon teamed up with Asymbol (art collective) artists Bryan Iguchi, Jamie Lynn, Schoph, and Luna Tinta to create a limited edition series of goggles and sunglasses showcasing their unique artwork.
