BIG SNOWFALLS KICK OFF THE SEASON

The Alps and the Highlands of Scotland are, today, covered in a fresh blanket of snow, as many resorts prepare, this weekend, to switch on their lifts and open up for Winter 2012/13.

Skiing & snowboarding conditions for the next two days in the Alps look excellent, as more snow is forecast according to the BBC weather service.

Many Swiss resorts have had fresh snow overnight with Zermatt reporting 30cms and St Moritz reporting 20cms of snow in the last 48 hours. Meanwhile in the Austrian Tirol,Hintertux has received 30cm of the fresh and fluffy stuff and Solden has had 41cm.

Closer to home Scottish resorts have also had a visit from the snow Gods this week. Many resorts will be open this weekend and with new snow expected early next week it’s a fantastic start to the Scottish Snowsports season and bodes well for the season ahead.
