5 OF OUR FAVOURITE WOMEN'S WATERPROOF JACKETS

After a cold, dark winter of rain and general greyness, spring is finally here. The birds are singing, flowers are in blossom and wait… it’s just started to rain.

As we all know the weather in the UK is notoriously temperamental. A solid waterproof jacket is going to keep you dry/comfortable. Here’s five of our favourites for those spring showers.

The North Face

Ideal for walking in the Lakes or a stroll the dog, the Sangro Jacket from The North Face (TNF) is reliable, comfortable and has a nice tailored fit. It’s made from TNF’s waterproof and breathable DryVent 2L fabric and has an adjustable hood that can be stored away in the collar. Inside the jacket there is a mesh Taffeta lining and a brushed chin guard; both sit pleasantly against your skin.

Women's Arc Waterproof Jacket

In the Women's Arc, Rab have created a lightweight jacket for fast-paced activities that offers protection across all seasons. The Pertex Shield+ material and AquaGuard zips provide an impressive waterproof barrier while added stretch improves freedom of movement.

Its hood can be rolled down and fixed in place for around town. Then when you hit the hills it can accommodate a helmet for rock climbing and mountaineering. For those wanting to use a rucksack with a hipbelt the two main pockets are positioned on the chest for easy access.

The women’s Spine jacket has a minimalist design and construction built for trail runners. This essentials only mentality means that it has an AquaGuard chest pocket, pit zips, a storm hood and that’s about it.

With the focal point of the jacket being weight Montane have used GORE-TEX Active for the shell; the lightest waterproof and breathable material GORE-TEX make. It works especially well for athletes doing aerobics activities such as running. Excess heat is allowed to escape, limiting sweat build up and keeping your body dry/comfortable.

Women's Evolve Triclimate 3 in 1 Jacket

The Triclimate is three jackets in one. Comprised of an outer shell and detachable fleece, they can be worn individually or together. To keep you dry the outer jacket is fashioned from Hyvent fabric and all the seams are sealed. It comes with an array of useful features including, an internal security pocket, adjustable cuffs/hems and a roll-away hood. The fleece is nice and soft against your body and is a useful layer to throw on in the evening.

Women's Alpha FL GORE-TEX Pro Waterproof Jacket

The Arc’teryx Alpha FL delivers alpine-worthy protection in a feather-weight package. Made from GORE-TEX Pro it easily rebuffs rain, wind and snow yet permits excess heat and moisture to escape. To keep the jacket weight to a minimum the team at Arc'teryx removed all but the essential features. This trade-off is certainly worth it because the jacket weighs in at an impressive 285g (in a medium).

Focusing on the end user experience they have constructed the jacket with e3D patterning, articulated elbows and gusseted underarms. This continues in to the trim fit, helmet friendly hood and harness compatible design.
