DISCOVER BACKCOUNTRY WEEK: LONDON
DISCOVER BACKCOUNTRY WEEK: LONDON
Whether you get there under you own steam or gain access from the side of a lift, backcountry terrain provides you with a whole new world of ski and snowboard adventures; from pillow lines and cliff drops to couloirs and so much more.
Despite the allure of powder, heading off-piste can bit a little intimidating with all the touring hardware, safety equipment and the ever-present danger of an avalanche. However, with the right training, knowledge, route planning and terrain management you can greatly minimise the risks involved and become a proficient ski tourer.
We have teamed up with some of the best and most experienced experts in the field to provide you with series of talk over the week (at our Covent Garden store) introducing backcountry skiing and snowboarding. As well as the talks we will have our in-store backcountry experts on-hand to answer any of your questions and all the latest and greatest backcountry gear for you to check out.
Don't forget to take a look at our blogs and articles as well as our Backcountry Guide below, so you can make sure you get the most out of your next backcountry adventure.
Events taking place during Discover Backcountry Week
Ski Technique Lab - Warren Smith
Monday 22nd October - 20:00 - 22.00
We welcome back our partners and Ski Technique specialists from the Warren Smith and his Academy team; as they once bring us their SKI TECHNIQUE LAB talk consisting of a lecture and a personal range test assessment.
The 'Ski Technique Lab' is an event that consists of a lecture and tests that explain the Academy's 3 Way Lineage (Ski Technique / Ski Biomechanics / Ski Equipment Precision) philosophy of teaching and why it's vital for ski technique development, unlocking classic blocks in skier movement patterns. This typically relates to a lack of movement range and muscle coordination which can be spotted and fixed off the mountain.
