DISCOVER BACKCOUNTRY SESSIONS: GLASGOW

Join Ellis Brigham and Blair Aitken from British Backcountry on one of our 4-hour DiSCOVER BACKCOUNTRY indoor sessions at Snowfactor, Glasgow on 17th November.

During the session Blair will give you tips and techniques that will help you master skinning (including kick turns); learn the theory of terrain choice and avalanche awareness; practice transceiver searches; and he will coach you on your downhill ski performance.

The cost of £40 includes: coaching, use of facilities, equipment where required and lift pass.

Venue and Dates:

Snow Factor, Braehead, Glasgow
17th November- 8.30am – 1pm
17th November- 1pm – 5.30pm.

Prerequisites:

You will need to be confident skiing the main slope, and ideally a hard red run on-resort. If you have not skied for a while it is recommended that you try and visit the centre prior to booking onto the course.

Equipment:

If you have your own ski touring equipment please bring it. Touring skis and skins can be provided, but we must know your ski boot sole length size at the time of booking (enter your details at the time of booking when prompted) if you need to borrow skis. Avalanche safety equipment will be supplied.

Price:

£40 per person including ski touring and avalanche equipment, coaching and lift pass, maximum 10 in a group.

You will also need to bring warm ski clothes, gloves and a helmet (helmets are a slope requirement and can be borrowed via the slope rental department if required) Please ensure to arrive in plenty of time; we will be starting promptly with the skinning/uphill element first.

Touring boots are preferable, though for the sake of this course normal alpine boots will suffice.

We have a very limited number of tour boots that, if required, we can lend for the course by prior arrangement - please contact Ellis Brigham, Braehead store: braehead@ellis-brigham.com 0141 885 4700 for further information.
