As the cold weather bites and we check our cupboards for winter woollies, somewhere in Russia the Winter Olympic torch is on a 65,000 kilometre journey that will take it to the top of Europe’s highest mountain, underwater and in to outer space, culminating in Sochi on February 7 to mark the start of the Winter Olympics. And we can’t wait.
The 2014 games will be one of the biggest winter Olympic events ever, with 6,000 athletes, 1,650 Paralympic athletes, 25,000 volunteers and over 3 billion people expected to watch proceedings across the globe. Team GB will be well represented with podium hopes and even a good shot at a gold medal (or 2!) this year. Ellis Brigham are very proud to be amongst the team’s supporters through the supply of kit and exclusive British Ski & Snowboard Team Ski Ties, the proceeds of which will go towards helping the team fund their preparation and participation in the Sochi Olympics.
You can find out a lot more about the games by visiting the British Ski & Snowboard team website, but as a quick reference guide we’ve listed some of our top athletes below.

Name: Jamie Nicholls
Date of Birth: 05/12/1986
Where do you begin with Jamie? Halifax Dryslope is probably the best place, where the budding rider would be seen throwing down front flips and 900s before his years were in double digits. As such a young talent, Jamie quickly caught of the eye of big sponsors including TSA, Salomon and Red Bull, and soon established himself as the biggest thing in British Snowboarding since the scene emerged. Now ruthlessly dominating virtually every event he enters, Jamie Nicholls will be the one to watch on the Sochi slopestyle course.
