This Prize trip is ideal for those who have some previous climbing experience and would like to take on the considerable challenge of climbing to 7,000 metres.

Although climbing at this altitude is not easy, the superb views of the North Face of Everest from the Col make it all worthwhile and the whole experience will leave you with a huge sense of achievement.

This trip has the added advantage of offering three different departure dates throughout the season for the winner to choose.  

Your Airfare from London to Kathmandu will be paid for, you will be fully insured by Snowcard (Subject to normal insurance underwriting - see Snowcard.co.uk for details)


You will be met in Kathmandu by a member of the Himalayan Experience team who will accompany you to Base Camp, where you will meet the Guides who will look after you for the rest of the expedition & get you back into Kathmandu for your return flights. You simple need to pay for occasional lunches or snacks along the way - everything else is covered in your prize.

You will also receive a full set of Mountain Equipment gear necessary to complete the climb, Free of Charge - all in all  “The Prize Of A Life Time!”

To be eligible to enter this competition you must first go to www.himex.com and read the North Col trip pages, the expedition booking procedure, and read up on the expedition. Look at other Websites, familiarize yourself with the trip - are you really up for it physically and the time commitments?

Please DO NOT ENTER this competition if you are unable to go, will not pass a Medical stating you can climb to 7000m or do not have the trekking experience necessary.

Experience.
The climb to the North Col from Advance Base Camp, is not a technical one, and most of the expedition is a trek, though the remoteness and altitude should be considered. The itinerary provides time for acclimatization, however the Prize Winner should therefore have been to reasonable altitudes before and be reasonably confident that they are able to acclimatize in the time available.

For most people, this should not be a problem, but if you have had difficulty acclimatizing before, you may not be able to reach advance base camp at 6,350m, which is notorious for high altitude sickness. In addition to remote trekking and altitude experience, you will need to have snow and ice climbing experience and be competent at abseiling (rappelling).

This expedition is therefore suitable for reasonably experienced climbers who are looking for non-technical ascents in a challenging environment.

The first correct entry drawn from all entries on Dec 31st 2008 will win an all inclusive trip on Himalayan Expeditions North Col 26 day Expedition.The prize includes international airfares, any taxes, travel visas, travel insurance by Snowcard.co.uk, & airport transfers.
The prize is valid for travel in 2009, on any Himalayan Expeditions North Col trip - if you are unable to travel in 2009, in special circumstances we can extend that deadline. Reservations must be made directly with Himalayan Expeditions and a booking form must be completed and signed by the participants acknowledging the detailed practical, medical and other terms and conditions of participation.
The prize is not transferable to any other trip, may not be transferred to another person and can not be used in conjunction with any other discounts or offers. The prize is not redeemable for cash. All entries must be received by the competition deadline of 31st Dec 2008. The winning entry will be drawn 01/01/2009 and the winner will be contacted by phone and announced in the January 2009.
