Titan Technology » Titan Metal Laminate is a visible extension of the standard metal laminate. As skis get wider, especially in the shovel, a metal laminate can feel overwhelming. Titan Technology reduces the overall swing weight by removing material from the top layer of titinal in the tip and tail. The result is more control and a lighter, less tiring ski.

Metal Laminate Construction » With 2 sheets of titanium alloy running along the length of the ski, Metal Laminate skis are the highest performance, most complex design available from K2. Built from the base up this construction consists of alternating layers of fibreglass and titanium surrounding a wood core. While less forgiving than a Torsion Box construction, Metal Laminate provides damp, accurate, unshakeable performance, ideal for expert-level all-mountain skiers.

Traxial Braiding » Developed by K2 in 1988, Triaxial Braiding is still the best known process of applying fibreglass to a wood core. This process consists of sending a milled wood core through the patented Triaxial Braiding machine, where the core is wrapped by interlocking strands of fibreglass. This unique method produces skis that have a great deal of torsional rigidity and strength, while maintaining all the lively characteristics of a wood core ski.

Torsion Box Construction » The use of Torsion Box construction provides forgiveness, ease of use, responsiveness and energy. It’s a simpler design, compared to the Metal Laminate construction, and consists of a Triaxally braided core. Depending on the dimensions of a ski and the amount of flex and torsion built into it, one model of a Torsion Box ski can differ greatly from another.
