WHAT: Girls on Ice - Lucinda Hughes, the UK’s number one female climber and member of The North Face climbing team, will be holding a series of special women’s only ice climbing master-classes.

WHEN: Thursdays December 15, January 26, February 23 and March 23 from 5:30-6:30pm and 6:30-7:30pm

Lucinda Hughes is the UK’s leading female climber and the Ice Wall at the new The North Face store is the largest inside a retail outlet in the world, so could there be a better way to learn how to climb an ice wall?

This exclusive series of sessions are for women only and will teach all the basics from how to put on your crampons and hold an ice axe to much more technical climbing techniques.

The Ice Wall is the first of it’s kind in a The North Face store in the world. At 8 metres tall, it is made from real ice so there genuinely isn’t a more realistic indoor alternative to the real thing in Britain.

Lucinda Hughes is consistently the UK’s leading female climber and competes all around the world. And it’s not just her climbing pedigree that’s proven. When not scaling rock faces across the world, Lucinda is a science teacher and the northern coach for the national junior competition climbing team so she’s an expert at passing on her considerable knowledge.

Since taking to the sport relatively late at the age of 17 she has quickly climbed the rankings and claimed the British Indoor Climbing Championships (BICC) Women’s title in 2002.

She quickly added the A5 British Bouldering Championships (BBC) 2002/3 title and now regularly finishes as the first Brit in Bouldering World Cup events across the globe.

Prices are £20.00 per person for those that have completed the induction course at The North Face Ice Wall, or £40 to include the induction course.
