eb freeski - deep man...

Ted Foster

Tell us about the first time you went skiing? When, where, how old, etc
I was about 4 years old and I used some cross country skis on a frozen lake in Oslo, Norway.

When did you first start freestyle skiing, and what got you into it?
I started freestyle skiing a couple of years after the Snowdome in MK was built and I liked the idea of doing something a little bit different

How long before you realised that actually you were good at this?
Still to realise!!

Did being a snowblader help you with your skiing?
Stupid question!!!!

What’s been you’re most memorable achievement so far?
At the Brits 2005 I had never hit a kicker quite so big and after 20 minutes or so I landed a 900. Pretty stoked

You’re known to fall asleep easily, where’s the funniest place you’ve fallen asleep?
I’ve perfected the technique of falling asleep with my eyes open at work. STOKED!

What are you’re aims for this season, and beyond? Are there tricks you want to nail, comps you want to enter, places that you have to go.
I really hope to do well at the Brits but to do that I’ve going to have to be on my game with a few new tricks in my bag. I’m also pretty stoked to be able to travel around Europe hitting up a few street spots.

What’s the groupie situation like now that you’re becoming a regular in the magazines?
My only groupie is my mum.

You and some of the other British riders are getting seriously good, do you think the UK is starting to produce riders that can genuinely compete on the Euro and World stage, or as we progress will the gap stay the same as the top riders keep pushing the boundaries?
To compete on a Euro and World stage the Brits are gonna have to keep pushing them selves. We’re a bit behind at the moment but if someone really wants it they could get there.

Where do you think freestyle is going, both in terms of the UK and Globally?
On a global level, freestyle is at a stage where originality is really important as well as keeping it stylish. In the UK the level has been stepping up drastically every year so who knows what’s gonna get thrown down by everyone.

You work in a ski shop when you’re not riding, what’s the funniest situation you’ve had to deal with?
I seem to find myself in funny situations every day, normally feeling far too hungover and having to deal with some sweaty dude’s smelly feet. On the odd occasion making me sprint to the bog to throw my guts up. That’s not really that funny but ‘hey’
