The First ever British Big Mountain Championships will be taking place on the 19th -22nd March 2007 in the world-renowned Klosters/Davos Mountains. The Davos Klosters ride has been created by Ride Freesports and Southwell Enterprises to further promote backcountry skiing and snowboarding in the UK and to give British Athletes a platform so they can compete in world class Freeride competitions like the Big Mountain Heli Ride.
Event directors Warren Smith, Chris and Nick Southwell believe this will be a huge opportunity for UK freeskiers and Snowboarders to be judged with IFSA sanctioning, gain TV exposure and to eventually take their level to that of a European and World athlete.
The event will be a World Tour Qualifier with the top three male and top two female skiers gaining automatic entrance into the qualifiers of the World Tour event the Big Mountain Heli-Ride 2008.
With only 16 riders invited to this event worldwide, we have secured a ticket for the winning snowboarder to compete in the Stimorol Engadinsnow 08. This is a huge step for British Freeriding and will give the winner of the Davos Klosters Ride 07 a chance to compete against the likes of Flo ?rley, Steve Klassen and Cyril Neril. The event will also be covered by a 24 minute tv programme for Eurosport. Insciption is now open and athletes are required to enter online before the 15th March on www.davosklostersride.com. On the website there is also information on accomodation packages for both visitors and athletes.
